Ex-captain at Florida ABT denies claims of sexual harassment

A former captain at Florida's Division of Alcoholic Beverages and Tobacco is contesting accusations that he is guilty of sexual harassment. The captain was terminated from his employment on July 1, after being accused of creating hostile work conditions and allegedly subjecting his co-workers to sexual harassment and racial discrimination at the Orlando, Florida office he managed. The Captain claims that he did not do anything inappropriate and says he will file an appeal to regain his employment.

In spite of much advancement over the last several decades, racial discrimination is a problem that persists in Florida workplaces. In a state such as Florida, where people of many different races, religions and backgrounds must work together side by side, problems continue to arise and discrimination cases continue to be filed victims. Ex-Coast Guard member sheds light on sexual harassment issues

A young woman and former U.S. Coast Guard member spearheaded a national campaign to shed light on sexual harassment problems in the military. The 26-year-old South Florida woman quit the Coast Guard not long after her boot camp ended because, allegedly, she was the victim o sexual harassment by a superior officer. The man Chief Petty Officer she accuses of sexual harassment is currently serving jail time in a military prison for abuse of rank and status.
